Biometrics is the science and technology of measuring and analyzing biological data. It refers to pieces of technology
that measures and analyzes the human body characteristics. Some of these characteristics are fingerprints, eye retinas and
irises, voice patterns, facial patterns and hand measurements for authenication purposes.
How is it used?
It is used to prevent identity theft. It can slo be used as physical access granting systems, establish entitlement to
services and rights that are restricted to a certain group of individuals, and biometrics can be used for recording of facts.
Biometric devices
There are a variety of biometric devices. Such devices are fingerprint scanners, voice analysis facial scanners,
iris and retina scanners.
